Celebrate Earth Day with a Free Backyard Conservation Workshop

Community Backyard Workshop - Newsflash

Celebrate Earth Day with the City of Canal Winchester!  A free conservation workshop is scheduled for Saturday, April 22, 2023, from 10:00 – 11:30 AM at the Canal Winchester Community Center (45 E. Waterloo St.).  The workshop is offered in partnership with Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District as part of their Community Backyards program

The Community Backyards program is an educational rebate program for Franklin County, Ohio residents.  In the course, residents learn about rainwater, water pollution, stormwater runoff and its detrimental impacts on local water quality, erosion, and flooding.  Residents will also learn what they can do to help protect our waterways beginning right in their own backyard.

Those who attend the free workshop will also learn backyard conservation practices including rain barrels, rain gardens, native plants, and composting, and may be eligible to receive a $50 rebate voucher (*dependent on homeowners’ location & while supplies last) on the purchase of an approved conservation product.

Registration is free but required.  For more information or to register, click here or contact Hannah Woodruff, City of Canal Winchester Community Affairs, at 614-834-9915.
