By official proclamation from Mayor Mike Ebert, March 28, 2020 will be recognized as ‘Scouting for Food Day’ in Canal Winchester. The proclamation supports the efforts of local Canal Winchester Boy Scouts of America Troop 103 and other volunteers who will host a Scouting for Food collection drive throughout the community on Saturday, March 28, 2020.
“The Boy Scouts have been collecting food for this drive every spring for more than a decade now. We can all be proud of their effort to help others, and we’re certain that the community will support this great annual food drive,” said Mayor Mike Ebert.
‘Scouting for Food’ collection drives, first introduced by a Boy Scout Council in Missouri in the 1980’s, have been adopted and organized by Boy Scout Troops throughout the United States ever since. The program involves scouts picking up non-perishable food donations throughout their communities and delivering the donations to their local food pantries. The event serves as a positive example of the Boy Scouts’ longstanding tradition of community service and philanthropy.
