Village Historical Landmarks
As its population grows, Canal Winchester’s residents continue to work hard to maintain the area's historical integrity and keep in touch with years that have passed. There are many unique landmarks worth visiting while in Canal Winchester. The last covered bridge in the county can be found on Ashbrook Road. This structure was built in 1887 and is no longer used for transportation. The Prentiss School, Chaney Mill Elevator and Train Depot all stand at the entrance of the historic village on High Street. There are also several homes and buildings in the downtown area that are on the National Registry of Historic Places. More information about the history of this quaint community can be found on the Canal Winchester Historical Society’s Web site.
