Public Works
Building Departments in the State of Ohio are certified and monitored by the Board of Building Standards pursuant to Section 3781.10 of the Ohio Revised Code.
The intent of the certification is to establish uniform requirements for any construction, residential or non-residential, within the State, to ensure the health, safety and welfare of the public, to ensure economic reasonableness of the building codes, and to encourage, so far as practicable, the standardization of construction practices, methods, equipment, material, and techniques.
