  Finance Committee
The Finance Committee's purpose is to review, investigate and recommend Council action in all fiscal matters before Council; including budgets, appropriations, taxes, assessments, employee wages and relations, expenditures and general monetary policy, issues pertaining to economic development, and other special assignments.

  Service Committee
The Service Committee's purpose is to review, investigate and recommend Council action in all matters of public utilities, streets, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, water, street trees, and other special assignments.

  Safety Committee
The Safety Committee's purpose is to review, investigate and recommend Council action in all matters of public buildings and grounds, traffic safety, police protection, fire protection, health, civil defense, building codes and inspection, beautification and public park lands, recreational facilities, public facilities, and other special assignments.

  Rules Committee
Any resolution to amend the Rules of Council shall be referred to the Rules Committee where it shall be considered immediately, taking precedence over any other business before the committee, and the committee shall make a report on the resolution to amend at the next regular session of Council following its introduction. The Rules Committee shall meet at least once a year to review the standing rules of Council. The Rules Committees authority shall include, but not limited to, reviewing, investigating and recommending councilmatic action in areas involving eligibility for office and conflicts of interest. The Rules Committee shall also review, investigate and recommend councilmatic approval or disapproval of all candidates to fill vacancies for positions on City Council.

  Old Town
Review, investigate and recommend Council action in all matters of downtown issues, Landmarks Commission, historical features, building codes and inspection for historic districts, and other special assignments.

  Committee of the Whole
Review, investigate and recommend Council action in all matters of annexation and subdivision regulations, and other special assignments.

  Landmarks Commission
Canal Winchester contains numerous historic, architectural and environmental resources that establish an environmental character. This environmental character is directly linked to the economic, social, historical and cultural health and well being of the community. The Landmarks Commission was established to help protect and preserve these resources and to prevent intrusions and alterations within the established historic districts, which would be incompatible with their established character.

  Planning and Zoning Commission
The Planning and Zoning Commission is responsible for reviewing and acting upon applications for site plan approval, variances to the zoning code and subdivision regulations, to review all proposed amendments to and rezoning of the zoning code and map, and to hear and decide appeals of any decision or order made by the Planning and Zoning Administrator or Zoning Officer involving the Planning and Zoning Commissions jurisdiction. The Commission is also responsible to review all major subdivisions and forward their recommendation to City Council.

  Street Tree Advisory Board
The Street Tree Advisory Board was created by the city via Ordinance 38-92 on April 20, 1992. The Board consists of five (5) members who are citizens of the City of Canal Winchester, to be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council of the City of Canal Winchester, Ohio.

  Charter Review Commission
On or before the last day of January in the year of 2000 A.D. and each ten years thereafter, the Mayor shall appoint five and the Council shall appoint six members of The Charter Review Commission. The Commission shall submit its findings and recommendations for revisions of the Charter to the Council no later than the last day of December of the year of their appointment. The terms of the members of the Commission shall end on the last day of December of the year of their appointment. The Council may, in its discretion, submit any, all or none of the recommendations of the Commission to the electors in the form of proposed amendments to the Municipality’s Charter at an election established by the Council.
