Volunteers Needed for Community Watch Program
February 18, 2008
The Village of Canal Winchester has partnered with the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office to begin a “Community Watch Program” in Canal Winchester. The purpose of this all-volunteer program is to deter crime as well as raise awareness and residential safety in the community.
We have already received some interest from citizens who wish to participate in this crime watch program and I encourage any other village resident who is interested to sign up as quickly as possible. There are a limited number of spots in each training class, which is filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Since this program is open to several other communities, the sooner Canal Winchester applicants sign up, the more likely it is that there will still be room for our community members in the training class.
Those who apply will be subject to a background check and required to take a 40 hour training class. The training is a mix of classroom and on-the-street training, with the next class beginning in May. Additional details from the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office and an application can be found by clicking the link below. This information is also available at the Village Municipal Building at 36 S. High Street and the Sherriff’s Sub-Station at 10 N. High Street or
